Life Sciences

There are many branches of science including physical science, earth science and life science. Science is a part of every thing, everywhere you go and is a vital part of the life of every person. Life science is the study of living things like animals and plants. It not only can explain the make up and behavior of things, it helps to explain how living things relate to one another and to their surroundings.

Different branches of science are included in life science. Agronomy is the study and management of the land, of crops and cultivation. Anatomy is what doctors study in medical school. It is the study of the structure form and arrangement of the body. The study of the growth and behavior of bacteria is known as bacteriology. Biology is a popular and well know aspect of life science. It is the study of animals and plants, their origin, morphology and their environments. Another branch of science that is included in life science is cytology the study of the structure, function and life of cells. Ecology is the study of the relationship between living thing and the environment. The well known branch of science that is known as medicine is the study of the cause, prevention and cure of diseases. It is another branch of science that is also very important in a doctor’s life. Nutrition, as most people know, is the stuffy of the supply of adequate and correct foods. Pharmacology is the study of drugs, their preparation, use and effect. Physiology is the study of the function of living things. Psychology is the study of behavior of humans and animals, working of the brain. And zoology is the study of animals.

Some life scientists work in laboratories carrying out experiments and others work in the field doing research in forests, mountaintops or even under the sea. Life science and its branches have had a major effect in the lives of people everyday in different ways. Combined with the use of technology, it has resulted in many helpful applications. Shots that prevent mumps and measles have been developed. Plants that don’t get sick easily have been developed. And x rays and organ transplants have enhanced the health of everyone who has experienced them.

Science projects that are related to life science can be extremely beneficial in the lives of the student. For example, a science project can include the exploration of the five senses. Students can pose the question; are some senses enhanced when one is lost? Or they might want to research the different ways people compensate for the loss of sight or hearing. Can other senses like touch, taste or smell be lost?

Another kind of science project can be based on a certain type of animal or how different animals are affected by their environment. If the environment changes are the animals that live in it affected? If a certain type of animal is taken out of an environment, is the environment changed? These are all questions that interest the science community and are still be researched today.
